Contentment In Discontent

Livestream Preview

We are talking about discontentment—how we move our hearts from the desire for more into the freedom of less. We are wanting freedom, not oppression. We have a desire for less, for equality. We aren’t asking for more, but less! So how do we find contentment when we are discontent with our situations? How do we baptize contentment when we are discontent?

Paul says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” (Phil. 4:13); in other words, he can adjust in every circumstance. How is this possible? Contentment as believers comes from Christ. To know and be with Him allows us to become like Him, and we know that Christ rejected worldly systems.

We are seeing the systematic oppression of people of color. With the near murder of Jacob Blake, many athletes and sports teams are boycotting this season in protest. While the athletes who are boycotting may not be Christians, their actions are based on overcoming an oppressive system of the world, similar to how Jesus would.

The Gospel is always relevant. Since we are talking about contentment and discontentment, how are you processing the near murder of Jacob Blake? What are your thoughts on the sports boycotts? Tell us in the comments below.
