Movement Live Notes

Have you ever been in a space where you are seeking God, listening for His voice, only to realize that you are unsure if you actually know what God's voice sounds like? This was our topic for the week – how do we identify the voice of the Holy Spirit? Recently, I read an article by Beth Moore where she encouraged learning the language of the Holy Spirit. In the article, she discusses that many times we are not spirit-lingual.  This means that we do not speak the language of the Holy Spirit. Friends, the Bible is the Spirit-inspired vocabulary of God. And it is the Spirit-inspired vocabulary of God that the Holy Spirit uses to speak to you. This is the reason why we must become spirit-lingual. We need to increase our spiritual vocabulary so that we are able to firmly and confidently identify whether it is the Holy Spirit speaking, our flesh, or the enemy. How do we increase our spiritual language? We have to learn to read so that we can read to learn. We need to know how to not just read the word, but also learn how to apply the word and the word to increase our spiritual vocabulary.

When we find ourselves down and depressed, and our spiritual vocabulary has been increased, we can speak to the depression. We can speak to the frustration, and the flesh, and the anger. We can speak to the rage. We can speak to the disappointment and the hurt. We can speak to the various issues of life. We need to learn how to speak the correct language. We have to learn how to speak a word over ourselves. Not just a word, but we must speak a spiritual language over ourselves. Not just positive words, but spiritual words. Scripture says, "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you." If He knew us before He formed us, then that means he knows how to relate to us. That means He knows how to speak to us. Spirit language not only helps us identify that God is saying something, but it also helps you identify what God is saying. Increasing our spiritual language is how we realize that God is speaking to us. It is how we actually learn the language that He is speaking. The only way to learn a new language is to study it and utilize what has been studied in life. We often don't realize when God is speaking or that God is speaking because our ears have not been inclined to His language. Friends, we have to learn the language of God. Not just His language, but His voice and His sound.

Our encouragement this week is to find yourself in the space of self-emptying. When we self- empty, confess sin, and emptying everything away, it allows us to clear a space for God to reside in so that we can distinctly hear that He is speaking and what He is saying. We urge you, brothers and sisters, to dig deep into God's word and learn to speak His language.
