For His Glory
Hey friends!
Is anyone else counting down to summer break or just us? We are ready to relax by the pool and not worry about deadlines and hall duty. We have been daydreaming of road trips, good food, and quality time together. It's going to be a summer all about us!
Unlike us, the Holy Spirit is all about Jesus. God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit all work together for the glory of the other. Never for themselves! The trinity does not take vacations by the pool but actively works together for us. The Holy Spirit is about Jesus with intensity. Before Jesus died, He told the disciples that He would give them something from God "And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my father promised. But stay here in the city until he arrives, until you're equipped with power from on high." Luke 24:49 NLT. He is a comforter, a provider, a guide, and so much more. Often we make decisions based on our own desires and needs. We listen to our own voice in our head and hope it turns out alright. What we actually need to do is listen to the Holy Spirit, who helps us live a life that honors God and not our own flesh. If we stopped to listen to what the Holy Spirit advised first, it would provide us with much more peace than we're feeling now. I read that when believers walk by the Spirit, says Paul, they no longer give in to the desires contrary to God's will (Gal 5:16, ESV). When we walk with the Holy Spirit, we can bear fruit that honors God.
Pastor Dre and Pastor Shawn asked a few questions at the end of the sermon on Sunday. What is your background with the Holy Spirit, and how does it make you interact with the Holy Spirit? Do you feel scared when you think of the Holy Spirit? Do you see them as a comforter like God intends, like a safety blanket that a baby latches onto? We want you to consider these questions this week. Dig deep into the word and learn about what the Holy Spirit has meant for you. We want to remind you that the Holy Spirit shows us God's will for us and covers us. Working always for the glory of The Father and The Son. The Holy Spirit is already at work in you. You just have to listen and see. It is a gift from God for us.
We love you and are praying for you!
