Pain as a Protector

Livestream Preview

All of us have experienced pain in some way, whether through the loss of a loved one or a physical injury, but it has a purpose. There is a disease called congenital insensitivity that inhibits people from feeling pain. If a person who experienced this touched a hot stove, they wouldn’t feel it, but would still get burnt—perhaps even worse, because they may not know to pull away from the source of pain.

Pain is the gift that nobody wants. When we experience pain, we don’t want it, but it really is a gift; without pain, we wouldn't have the ability to withdraw from damaging situations.

Pain is an innate instrument that God has given us to prevent further damage, a warning mechanism to keep us from getting hurt worse. How are you processing pain? Have you ever thought of ways in which your pain has actually helped you? Let us know in the comments below.
