At What Cost?

Hey friends,

Happy Superbowl Weekend! I was so excited to watch this weekend and not because I know anything about football but because I wanted to see the halftime show. That's about all I got to watch because I had a huge shirt order to finish. Sadly as I was trying to rush, I made a mistake and put the words on incorrectly. I was so upset because I didn't have a backup shirt, so I decided to fix it. We have this unique solution that when you put it on the vinyl, it will peel off. As I got it ready, Jesse said, "make sure you put something under it, so it doesn't leak.". I said it was fine and got to work. Well… I should have listened. I was working on our tv tables which are pricey, and guess what? It leaked through and ruined the table. I tried to clean it up, but there was no fixing it. There is now a giant black stain on the table. I felt awful. I should have listened to Jesse, who had wisdom and experience to share.

Many times in life, when we encounter difficult spills, we think we have what it takes to clean it up. We have people advising us, God's word to guide us, and we still choose to handle it ourselves. Like my situation, handling the spill yourself doesn't always go as planned. When we ignore the wisdom of God, we often end up looking like fools, like Pastor Dre said. Trust me, I felt foolish. It all could have been avoided. Sure my shirt would still have been ruined, but that's a smaller cost than the table.

What are you letting cost you more than it should? This week as you go about your week and your parents advise you, your student leads advise you, or the weekly Movement Live stirs something in you, listen. Listen to the advice to clean up after yourself at home before it piles up on you and takes you more time. Listen when your parents say drive the speed limit before it costs you a ticket. Listen when you feel God is leading you a different path before it costs you relationships, jobs, your life. At what cost will you get by in life? We are here to navigate the spills with you any day!

We love you!

Jesse and Marissa
