Meetup FAQ’s
What’s the mission of Movement Church Network?
The mission of Movement Church Network is to connect to Christ, connect to culture and connect the culture. We do that by moving up to connect to Christ in our efforts to be with Jesus. We connect to culture by moving out in our efforts to be like Jesus. Rhythmically we move in to connect the culture to Christ in our obedience to make disciples.
Why Meetups?
We are called to share the good news of Jesus with the world, and we want to help people have real, genuine relationships with God and others. A lot of people seem to be interested in Jesus but are turned off by religion or just the idea of walking into a traditional church. We get that at Movement Church. We are interested in creating places where any person regardless of their background, accomplishments, failures or issues can come experience friendship, acceptance, and the grace that comes through Christ. Join us as we chat about life and make new friends!
What are Movement Meetups?
Movement meetups are a group of people who live in the same local area and intentional connects to others in their communities of culture. Meetups are a great format for meeting together with community, and they are an easy on-ramp for making connections. Meetups can be focused around an affinity or a fun activity. These meetup locations gather in cafes or available spaces around the nation, watching a Movement LIVE and spending time in discussion.
Meetup Types
Life-Giving Meetups
Church is more than a gathering on a Sunday. Church is not only a crowd gathered around a stage, but a Community of people drawn together into the mission of Jesus Christ. Life-Giving Meetups are the primary way gather as the family of God each week to share life together.
Gospel-Centered Meetups
As disciples of Jesus, we make it our aim to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what Jesus did. Through teaching, practice, community, and the Holy Spirit, we are learning what it means to be a disciple, or apprentice, of Jesus. It is in this ordinary rhythm of life in Gospel-Centered Meetups that we become transformed to look like Jesus.
Mission-Focused Meetups
As missionaries to our city, we proclaim the good news of Jesus and do justice in our city. Mission-Focused Meetups are service based. As we live and work in the city and share life in the same neighborhood, we partner with God to see the Kingdom of God come in our city as it is in heaven.
How are Movement Meetups different than a house church?
Movement Meetups are under the leadership of Movement Church Network. All content shared in a Movement Meetup service is prepared by Movement Church Network and reflects Movement Church Network’s beliefs and theology. Movement Meetup leaders go through a verified approval and training process overseen by Movement Church Network pastors. Movement Meetup locations are part of the national Movement Church Network community—meaning hosts and locations are accountable to Movement Church Network leadership in oversight and implementation Comparatively, a home church would be under its own leadership, with its own content, and have a possible connection to any church base or could potentially be freestanding with no formal church oversight.
