Solid Rock
Hey friends!
We hope you had a great weekend celebrating the fathers in your life! Jesse and I are so grateful for the men who lead us and are so loving in our lives! I'm especially grateful for my dad, who has been such a rock in my life! Growing up, it was entirely normal to me that my dad fixed everything in the house. Whether it was the AC, electricity, plumbing, the cars, or even a leaky roof, my dad knew how to fix it. He truly does it all! Now that I'm an adult, I realize not everyone is so lucky to have someone who can fix it all! I never panicked when my car broke down or when I might have wrecked it (oops). My dad has always been there to save the day. Without hesitation, I leaned on him to make it all better.
Why is it so hard to just as easily lean into Jesus with all of our trust? Pastor Shawn said, "I know the wall will hold me up because I'm aware of it. Are we aware of God's presence?". That really got me thinking. Are we aware of God's presence to lean on Him for help like I was aware my dad was there to help me? We say we trust God, but what does that really look like? When we trust Him, we have to put it in His hands and let it go. I know, easier said than done. I'm the worst about handing it over to God and then continuing to worry. But, when I think about how much I trust my dad, I realized a few things: I trust him because I know him. Like really know him. I spend time with him, have conversations with him, and I trust him even when it seems impossible to see my problem resolved, and take his advice even when I don't see the picture clearly.
We have to be the same with God. To be aware of His presence means we need to know Him. We need to have conversations with Him like he's our very best friend! We need to spend time with Him. Let's pray, let's worship, let's be still. When we pray, and God gives us direction or reveals himself in His word, let's trust that He will get us to where He needs us, even if the bigger picture doesn't make much sense yet. Honestly, it doesn't make sense often, but man, am I glad I have stuck it out to see a better life than what I would have accomplished alone.
This week let’s work on being aware of His presence. How will you make an effort to draw close to Him? He’s the solid rock on which we should stand. Doesn’t life seem less scary when you know you won’t sink when you step if you have a solid rock foundation? I think so.
We love y'all so much and will be praying for some glory glimpses where God unmistakably shows up in your day. Be sure to share with us on Instagram!
