When we make the decision to follow Jesus, to allow the Holy Spirit to totally reconstruct our hearts, the transition from old to new is almost never smooth. We saw in the ‘All American’ clip that Spencer battled with himself. There was a tug-of-war between who he was in his old neighborhood and who he is required to be in the new one. As believers, we experience this same type of battle. The old vs the new. This is an age old struggle that we all face. Often times in each of our struggles, we become so overwhelmed that we remain in the battle instead of standing firm on the words that Paul spoke to us in Romans 6 - that because Jesus was raised from the dead, we too, can walk in newness of life. Pastor Dre challenges us in this Movement Live to accept that we have been crucified with Christ (Gal. 2:20). He challenges us to reckon our position in Christ because we KNOW (Rom. 6:6) that we can and should walk in the likeness of Christ’s resurrection.
