Better Weather

Hey friends!

Daylight savings time is over, and I am here for it! That extra hour of sleep is just what I needed. This weekend we spent it busy with the Student Meetup, with family, and chores. The cold weather made it especially perfect to be out and about as well. I'm always happy to have the weekends off, but good weather always reminds me of how grateful I am that I get to be off. It never feels as good when we are in the dead of summer at 100 degrees!

This week we have started talking about being thankful. It can be easy to remember to give thanks in the holiday season as we are surrounded by loved ones, gifts, and delicious food, but how do we give thanks in an empty room though? Just like when it's miserably hot in Houston, how do we give thanks for the day? It's definitely harder to give thanks when we are uncomfortable. But as we come to a cooler season, we realize that the heat is where our gratitude was built. In the uncomfortable, frustrating, and unexpected, our gratitude grows for the moments where we are winning. With God, it's the same. We have to make it through the hard and thank God anyways and watch Him give us better days. We can't just say, "ok, I'm gonna be grateful when I see better." We have to trust that his plans are better for us and thank Him now. So let's talk about how we can do that.

Pastor talked about different things we can do daily to build that attitude of gratitude. One of the things I find easy is journaling. Write down 5 things daily you are grateful for.  It puts the rest of your day in perspective. You can also pick a verse to memorize for the week that will remind you daily of His goodness. Let's work on building these good habits one day at a time.

We love you!

Jesse and Marissa
