Hooked
Hey friends!
Have any of y'all been to the stores this week? I thought I would find some discounted Christmas decorations, but instead, I found rows and rows of valentines stuff. There was candy out that we are expected to eat in February (eww), stuffed animals, cards, and more. It got me thinking about love and relationships. It also made me think of Pastor Dre's message this weekend.
When we want our partners to love us better, we don't simply ask it and disengage. We go on more dates. We text each other more often and stay up late nights on the phone. We write each other cute notes and get each other thoughtful gifts. We do the most, especially on Valentine's Day. I mean, how could we expect someone to do more for us but not show up to grow with them? We wouldn't. It doesn't make sense. We get hooked!
Many times we ask God to show up for us and then disengage. We say our prayer and hope he comes through for that new job, new car, good grades, more money, new crush. Then, we go on about our week until we remember to pray in that again or until we get what we want. Pastor Dre encouraged us to wait on God but also wait with God. We should be just as hooked on God as we are with our friends, boyfriends/girlfriends/ TikTok, and everything else that has a hold on us.
Let's not enter 2022 with the attention spans of a toddler for the things of God. Let's not do one thing a week and not develop it when it comes to God. As you learn to wait on God for the moves in your life, let's also remember to wait with Him. Then take both of these skills into next week and so on as you learn more. When we genuinely stay prayed up and in His word daily is when we will honestly know Him and what he wants for us. Then you'll know how He wants you to move. When you're hooked on something, you want more of it and usually daily. Get to know Him daily. Yearn for Him like we do everything else! Be in community in your meetups and talk it out. We can't wait to hear the testimonies that come from the way you MOVE!
