Consumed
Hey friends,
How’s everyone’s week going? We hope it’s been a great summer so far! As I’m getting ready to go back to work at school, I reflected on some memories from previous school years. Mainly, I remembered a time that wasn't so funny at the moment but made me shake my head now. I remember it being a Friday and a three-day weekend. Who can ever focus under those circumstances?! I was walking down the hallway, consumed by my thoughts about the weekend. Where will I go, who will I see, where will I eat, what will I wear. Everything was running through my mind except for paying attention to where I was going. Before I could stop myself, I had already crashed with someone coming around the corner with no paperwork but their lunch. Salad was everywhere. I was so embarrassed and obviously made promises of buying lunch right away.
I was so consumed by everything other than what was important at the moment, that it lead me to a big fail for the day. Often our minds can be so consumed and cluttered with concerns of the future and questions that we fail to process what is essential in the very moment we are in. Just like my bump in with my coworker, when we lose sight of God in our life, it can lead to a pretty big mess. Had I been focused on my path, literally, I could have avoided the chaos and saved some money. Also, I could have saved my coworker from ranch on their shoes (oops!).
Pastor Dre asked us a great question "Do you like the direction that your thoughts are taking you?". Are your thoughts distracting you and causing you more problems, or are they focused thoughts helping you successfully get to where you are meant to be? This week consider this question and analyze where your thoughts are leading you. Are you lost, or can you clearly hear God directing your way?
We love you and pray for clarity this week!
