Focus

Hello, fam!

We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend with loved ones and got some sunshine! This Sunday was the first time the Houston partners gathered in about a year and a half. It was so exciting to hear our Pastors in person as well as hug them! If you're in Houston and missed out, we hope to see you next month!

God always has a way of perfectly timing the message from our Pastors in the season we are in. Does that ever happen to you? Jesse and I were just talking about our truth the night before. We are very aware of what life looks like in the season we are in. Pastor Dre reminded us all on Sunday that our truth is not THE truth. He is so right!

Do you ever just get so wrapped up in your life and what you know to be true that you forget the truth God says about you? You are depressed, you are anxious, you are hurt, you are thriving, you are popular, you are busy, you are alone, you are sad or happy. You are ALL these things, and none of what God says is the priority about you. Isn't it crazy how these things can take the front row in our minds and consume us? They may be real things we experienced in our lives, but that doesn't mean that they are the end all be all for us.

God has different plans for us if we only focus on what He says instead of what we say we are. God says you are chosen, you are redeemed, you are loved, you were made with intention, you have purpose, you are blessed, you are forgiven, and so much more. These should trump all other things that we claim about ourselves.

As Pastor said, "Your focus needs more focus." Weekly we all sit down to listen to our Pastors who help us lead a Christ-style lifestyle. We are all in on a Sunday, and then as the week moves forward, our focus isn't our focus anymore. We let the world and our thoughts consume all of our energy, and we have none left to redirect on a better path.

This week we ask you to not let your focus shift back to what the world is focused on. Keep your focus on God. Keep your focus on the things He says about you. You must be asking HOW!? Let's start with less time online and more time with family. Try unfollowing some influencers and tiktokers that might be toxic to our mindset or reaching out to a friend to hang out in person instead of sitting alone all day. Take some time to read a devotional in the morning instead of reading old text messages that hurt us. Little things can help us make that shift. If you need help, reach out to us, and we are a phone call or text away!

We love you and are thankful for YOU!

Jesse and Marissa
