Grace Upon Grace

Hey friends!

I pray you are doing well physically, mentally, and spiritually! This past week the news has made us highly anxious and has stirred so many emotions in us. Anyone else? Watching the people of Kabul try to leave by hanging on planes, watching babies being tossed over to soldiers in desperation, hearing about the lives of our soldiers that were lost…is so heavy. Now Hurricane Ida is coming to Louisiana, and we are expecting the worst. These things are happening so far from us, so you might be wondering how we are; how can I possibly impact these times we are in now? Well, let's start by impacting the community around us. What our community needs right now is kindness and grace upon grace.

There is such a need for grace right now. We are called to react as followers of Christ and not as anything else. Like our Pastors said, we all have lots of opinions on what's happening internationally. Maybe you've overheard adults around you express themselves as well on what should and shouldn't have happened in Afghanistan. We ask you, as Movement students, as followers of Christ, that your first instinct would be to pray instead of talk. Pray for the leaders of our nation. Pray for the Taliban. Yes, THE TALIBAN! Pray that God would intervene in this time. When you hear your classmates share what they think, encourage them to pray for our President, who ultimately has the weight of this nation on him. Will you join us in praying for the leadership making decisions right now? Will you join us in being the difference in these conversations around us?

Let's not get so caught up in our own trials that we don't take a moment to look up around us. As Hurricane Ida makes its way closer, please pray for the families that have been and will be affected. Pray that you can extend kindness to anyone you contact because you don't know what they may be encountering right now. There is so much being thrown at us around the globe and on social media. We hope your foundation in Christ is what you stand on when your voice is being heard. We pray you love someone well this week. We pray that we could be examples of grace upon grace in our communities that would trigger unity in our nation.

We love you and are praying with you!

Jesse and Marissa
