Cracked

Hey friends!

How many of you remember having field day at school? I know it was definitely one of our favorite times growing up. Particularly one that stands out is one that was really embarrassing for me (Marissa). It was my turn to do the jug relay, where you fill up your water jug and run from one end to the other without spilling. I was so confident that I was going to kill this one! I filled my jug and took off running. Usually, when I'm doing the most, I end up becoming so clumsy, so of course, I trip and fall. The water goes everywhere. I gotta keep it cool, so I rush to get up. No big deal, I went back, refill it, and get going. Our team did great, and we really didn't do a lot of spilling, but we still didn't win the race. I couldn't figure out we had much less water at the end than everybody else. Well turns out when I fell, the jug cracked. So although it seemed like I had a full jug every time, little did I know there was a crack that was spilling water through it and not allowing the jug to function in it's full capacity to help us win. We were in such a rush that we didn't even notice amidst the chaos.

As Pastor was talking during this weekend's sermon about his car, it made me think of this. How many times do we feel like we're connected, and really there's a little broken piece, and we don't even realize it? We have our jug full and there's a little crack, and we don't even realize it. We are so determined to reach a goal at a chaotic pace that we don't even realize we aren't making any real progress. Dang. That's tough. How often do you get so caught up in finishing a race that you don't take time to check if you're properly equipped? Are you trying to check off your to-dos as a Christian but not even equipping yourself right to finish anything? Do you have the right support, the right community, and is it gospel-centered?

What have you been running after lately with God that doesn't seem to be progressing? Let's take time this week to check where the broken connection is - that's not allowing us that total intimacy with God. Sometimes a moment to reset and adjust will give us far more progress than what we have accomplished in our long time of chaos. We hope you find time to reconnect with God so your jug can not only carry all that you need but so that it would overflow!

We love you all and are praying for that connection!
