Mediocre

Hey, y'all!

Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed your night celebrating and counting down! We brought in the new year at home with my parents and brother. We kept it lowkey because that felt the safest to us. It was a very relaxed day, which seemed just like any other. So much so that we played ourselves. That's right, we did. How you ask? By eating at 5:30 and not waiting for dinner with the family. To make it worse, we had some basic McDonalds to bloat us up! Surprisingly at 7:30, my parents showed up with beef and chicken fajitas, sausage, pasta, snacks, and more. Man. We had said we would eat with them, so then we had to try and make room because leaving them to eat alone would have been rude. We honestly should have waited like planned to fully enjoy the great meal meant for the night.

Pastor Dre talked about waiting on God this Sunday. He told us how Carli waits on him when she's being patient because she knows her dad will come through for her. I asked myself later that night, why couldn't we just wait and trust that the food my parents would bring would be enough and be great? Instead, we stuffed our faces with some mediocre food that bloated us and didn't taste as great as we worked it up to be. How many times do we settle for a mediocre experience in life rather than trusting that God's plan for us is better and will be on time? How many times do we doubt that he won't show up on time only to be shocked because we missed a blessing while fooling with something that wasn't for us?! DANG!

I'll give yall an example of a time I WAS patient. I was at a Chick-fil-A when all the lights went out. They apologized and told us to hang tight. Many people left, but I was in no rush that day, so I stuck it out. When the young lady took my order on paper, she thanked me and told me my whole order would be free today. That was a total shock and a win for me as I was definitely ballin on a budget. I was patient, and it was rewarded not only with my food but with far more; I got to keep my money.

God has plans for us in 2022. As you are being intentional with asking God where He wants to use you this year, be patient as well. Trust His voice and His word to guide you steadily. Don't take matters into your own hands because you're impatient because you'll only end up giving yourself a McDonald's version of what you desire as God walks in with the hot fajita parrillada plate with the sizzle. You know what I mean! God wants more for you than you can even dream up. Dig into his word for the confirmations you are seeking rather than TikTok, Instagram, or Snapchat. Don't settle for mediocre.

We pray for patience this year as we learn to walk in obedience.

We love you!

Jesse and Marissa
