The Plug

Hey friends!

I hope you all are safe and well if you encountered the winter storm. Like many Texans, we were without power for a couple of days and without water for a week. We are thankful for no major damages and really learned to appreciate having power in our home.

We realized we are so dependent on our power being on. We never think twice about flipping a switch or turning on the stove. We quickly saw that there is almost nothing that functions in our home without power. We started daydreaming about all of the amazing food we would make as soon as the power came on. At 46 hours in the cold, we even settled for some warm ramen noodles! We heated some water in a bowl over candles and cooked them as best as we could. Was it the same as a quick boiled soup? No way! But it was better than our 5th cold sandwich! Now, on the other side of the winter storm, there is much gratitude for all the power it takes to heat our home, wash clothes, cook meals, and charge phones. It's basically the life source of our home.

God is very much our life source and powers us. Connecting our stove in the wall isn't enough if there isn't something on the other side powering it. It just doesn't serve its complete purpose. Sure, you can heat up some water on candles like we did but in no way does that heat up that water as well as the stove does. When we aren't hooked up to the right power source, it just doesn't work! Yet when you're hooked up to God and functioning in your purpose through his power, you are capable of more than you imagined! We bout to make some gumbo!

As you're adjusting back to "normal" this week, are you running at full speed with God's power, or are you lukewarm on some candles? Ask God, "where do you want me to invest my time" before you decide where you're going to plug yourself in. Does it even fit what God has destined you to do?

We are so glad to greet you all this week!

Love you all!

Jesse and Marissa
